Closing the Flight Plan

This page honors our friends and DUSTOFF Family members who have filed their last flight plan. Obituaries and pictures are provided by family members or discovery on public websites. Please send notices to “executivedirector@dustoff.org”

At each reunion during the Memorial Service that is the final event of the reunion we hold a roll call for the absent. This poem is read during that ceremony:

Closing the Flight Plan, adapted from the Muster Poem by Dr. John Ashton

In many lands and climes this day Proud DUSTOFFers unite Our loyalty to God and country we pay And seal a pact with the bond of common might. We live again those happy days of yore,

On the flight line, in the air, and at drill. Fond memory brings a sigh – but nothing more now we must move on, to live is still a thrill. Their spirits hover round us; as if to bring us cheer!

Mark them “present” in our hearts, we’ll meet them some other day. There is no life but Life Eternal for Heroes such as they. As we softly call the muster – let a comrade present answer “Here.”

Below are obituaries of DUSTOFFers that the Association has been informed of having closed their final flight plan – arranged chronologically by date of death. Images of those on this page are present if the Association was furnished one or could discover one on the internet.
