William Scott “Scooter” Drennon

COL William Scott “Scooter” Drennon’s distinguished 30-year career is marked by enduring contributions to MEDEVAC doctrine, leadership, training, and specifically to combat operations while serving six command assignments and four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of The Global War on Terror (GWOT). As commander of the 507th Medical Company (AA) during OIF-1 in support of the 3ID (M), his unit was awarded the prestigious Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) for their exemplary gallantry, valor, and esprit de corps in combat during the invasion of Iraq, defeat of the Iraqi Army and capture of Baghdad. He served as the Assistant Corps Chief and 70B Consultant to the Army Surgeon General. From his start as a Gulf War Platoon Leader at the 24ID (M) to Commanding a Combat Support Hospital in Afghanistan to his final assignment as Commander of the Medical Training Brigade, Scooter has exemplified superior professionalism with exceptional contributions to the legacy of DUSTOFF and the lowest died-of-wounds rate in modern warfare. COL Drennon was inducted into the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame on 1 May 2025.
