Scott Heintz

Scott Heintz

COL David “Scott” Heintz’s exemplary 26-year career embodies the DUSTOFF tradition. He set the foundation for the Army’s Aeromedical Evacuation transition into the 21st century.  As commander of D Company, 326th Medical Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) his company was the first MEDEVAC company to arrive in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  His TTPs became the gold standard within the 101st, and eventually doctrine within Army Aviation and the AMEDD.  Scott’s most significant accomplishment during Company and Battalion command and later as the Director of Medevac Proponency and MEDEVAC Consultant to the Army Surgeon General was that he laid the foundation for MEDEVAC’s evolution by presenting operational, and doctrinal evidence supporting a 15-ship MEDEVAC company structure that would best support Army and Joint Task Force operations.  His foresight, and passion ensured an unimpeded transition and sustainment of the MEDEVAC mission for the future; this is Scott’s legacy.  Scott was inducted into the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame on 21 May 2022.
