Robert F. “Rob” Howe II

COL Robert F. Howe II made significant and long-lasting contributions to DUSTOFF and our Army, throughout his 30-year career. He commanded three combat formations and led COVID response operations in the Homeland. He holds the distinction of being the first 67J Aeromedical Evacuation Officers selected to command a General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) during Aviation Transformation in 2009, serving in Germany and deploying to Afghanistan.  Rob’s outstanding and historic career encompasses the full spectrum of military operations within Army Medicine, the Aviation Branch, and the Joint Force.  As a result of his outstanding contributions to the DUSTOFF mission, he was selected to serve as the MEDEVAC Consultant to the Surgeon General.  From his first days as a Platoon Leader in the storied 101st Airborne Division “Rakkasans,” to his culminating assignment as Commander, 1st Medical Brigade “Silver Knights,” he exemplified the highest caliber of professionalism and dedication and was a world-class contributor to the DUSTOFF legacy. COL Robert Howe was inducted into the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame on 23 March 2024.
