It has been a tradition since “When I Have Your Wounded – The DUSTOFF Legacy” documentary was first shown for members of the DUSTOFF Association to be welcomed as a guest speaker on the first day of class. Originally, the course was taught at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. The great people of that institution established a high mark for the Army’s training of new flight medical personnel.
This class is now conducted at the Army Medical Department Center of Excellence. Each new class is shown our documentary. This establishes the legacy before them and allows the new students to more fully understand “whose shoulders that they stand on” as they begin their journey with the DUSTOFF Family.
March 26, 2025 saw the opening of the next class. COL (R) Dan Gower and his wife, Suzie, spent their 55th Wedding Anniversary with this new class. As Dan mentioned in his remarks to the class “What better way to spend the “double nickel” wedding anniversary than with the one that you love and the “best people on the planet” – DUSTOFFers”. It was a great day with a few war stories and some testimony of what DUSTOFF means to Dan and Suzie.
Dan is the former Executive Director of the DUSTOFF Association and a Life member of the DUSTOFF Association and a member of the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame.
