DUSTOFF Hall of Fame Procedures

In the interest of transparency and encouraging DUSTOFFers to consider nominating highly qualified members of the DUSTOFF legacy for consideration and voting for induction into the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame these Executive Council Procedures are provided for your information and action.

Purpose: These procedures are designed to describe the process by which potential nominees are screened for qualifications, presented for voting, and for ensuring a fair consideration of all nominees.

Executive Council Procedures:

a. A two-year waiting period must elapse following the death of the nominee. This was instituted to remove the emotion of a recent fatality. (January 2004 recommendation)

b. Documentation is a 160-word summary (to be used as foundation for the citation).

c. The narrative is to be no more than 1500 words documenting the nominee’s accomplishments.

d. The submission deadline date is NLT Midnight 30 April each year.

e. The month of May will be used for the EC Hall of Fame committee working with the nominator to polish the submission, ensure that it is grammatically correct, targeted towards the criteria, and concisely states how the nominee meets the criteria. Once the nominator approves all changes and the “polished” document is ready, the month of June will be used for the EC Hall of Fame committee to study and vote on the nominations. EC Hall of Fame committee in its forwarding letter to the EC will clearly state two things:
a) which criteria each nominee meets as a basis for the nomination and
b) the recommendations of the committee concerning each submitted nominee (send forward for vote or a recommendation to not send the nominee forward for vote).

f. The month of July will be used to prepare the final ballots, publish and mail the ballots to the full EC and Living Members of the Hall of Fame for the vote to induct. The voting will take place during the months of August/September/October, ending midnight 31 October.
