Brigadier Jerome Foust’s career as DUSTOFF Aviator, commander of medical and medical support units in a variety of combat operations, and as Chief, Medical Service Corps, clearly defines him as one of the most accomplished MSC officers ever. From his first assignment as a DUSTOFF pilot in the Republic of Vietnam, where he completed many lifesaving evacuation missions under heavy enemy fire, to his command of the 44th Medical Brigade in support of Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, where he was the first MSC to command the entire medical support system, to his selection as the first MSC Aviator to command the Corps, he distinguished himself by exceptional dedication to the DUSTOFF tradition and by outstanding performance of duty. His accomplishments in positions of great responsibility in operations that redefined the Army Medical Department and the US Army greatly enhanced the image of the Medical Service Corps, the AMEDD, and DUSTOFF. Jerome Foust was inducted into the DUSTOFF Hall of Fame on 22 February 2003.
