Message: I flew with the 54th Med Det., as a flight medic, at Ft Lewis, Washington from 1978 - 80. After returning from recall for Desert Storm, I flew as a full-time flight medic (1992 - 1994) with the 1250th Med Det with the Idaho National Guard out of Boise, Idaho. I am searching for pics from that time period, if anyone would be willing to share. As egotistical as it sounds, I would love to find any that I am in. Probably one of my biggest regrets is not taking pictures. Anyway, drop me a line! I would love to hear from you!

I have not kept in touch with anyone from that period in my life. However, I have a lot of respect for all of you folks and wish you the best in life. I would love to hear from anyone serving with the 377th during that time frame.

Message: Here goes.... Didn't really know my dad that well. He came back with PTSD, was very violent and drank a lot. He left when I was 4. When he died in 86, all I received was a Ronson lighter he sent to my mom. On one side, it has his name at the top; Then on the body of the lighter it has DUSTOFF with shielded wings underneath. Below that it has 66 VIETNAM 67 . On the other side, it has my moms name at the top; On the body it has a shield with a sword on it and 498 MED CO. His name was Julius Thomas. Don't know if it was his nickname while he was over there, but he came back with Tom tattooed on his arm. I know he was shot at least once (I heard twice) and was eventually sent home. As long as it's not too intrusive to ask, any info/pics would be graciously appreciated. I am his only son. D. Thomas

I then flew out of Qui Non.(I can't spell these towns any more - it's been too long) I then went back to Plieku to finish my tour. I never had the distasteful pleasure of receiving a North Vietnamese marksmanship award (purple heart). I have some unhappy results from my exposure to Agent Orange. Message: I was assigned the MEDEVAC UH-1B #62-2002 in June 1963 and remained its CE/DG until it was reassigned as a psy/war and then later when it was reassigned as a troop hauler and resupply ship. I flew with CPT Dr. Anthony S. Klein, M.D.-USAMC CPT Scanlon USAMC, Medics Gerald Listenbee*, SGT Clair Hudspeth and others from Camp Holloway during 1963 thru 1964. The DUSTOFFs I served on were the most rewarding and heartbreaking missions I experienced during my service in the Central Highlands.

*Listenbee is deceased.

Message: I'm not a member of the DUSTOFF - however someone I love (my girlfriend's father) did serve in Vietnam and gave his life for our country. His daughter knew her father but we have placed a wall of honor in our home. I cut/pasted his bio and it's as follows.

Lieutenant Dennis B. Easley was a 1965 graduate of Arlington State College. He is honored for his courageous service to his country, which resulted in the loss of his life while serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Lieutenant Easley served two years in the U.S. Navy prior to entering Arlington State College where he became a battalion commander in the Corps of Cadets. Lieutenant Easley was commissioned in 1965 and after completion of flight training was assigned to the 15th Medical Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in Vietnam. Lieutenant Easley distinguished himself quickly as a skilled pilot and earned the respect of his crewmembers and his fellow pilots. Lieutenant Easley was flying a night medical evacuation mission on 20 July 1966 when he crashed near An Ky, Vietnam. Lieutenant Easley became the first soldier from Arlington, Texas to give his life in Vietnam. His fellow soldiers in Vietnam, the Corps of Cadets at Arlington State College, and the city of Arlington duly honored him in a memorial service. Lieutenant Easley's awards and decorations include the Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam National Order Medal 5th Class, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Lieutenant Easley's performance while a member of the Corps of Cadets at Arlington state College and his giving of the ultimate sacrifice, his own life, for his country while serving in the U.S. Army in Vietnam is in the highest traditions of the patriotism of the U.S. Army fighting man, the Corps of Cadets, and The University of Texas at Arlington.

Message: I flew with the 377th during the time mentioned. We were stationed at ASCOM, with TDY sites in Taegu and Warrior Control [Munsan Ni]. A lot of the names of my comrades have faded except Jim Lubina, my running partner. I enjoyed my tour, and had the best times ever, of course at or during this time the 121 Evac Hosp moved from ASCOM to Yongsong[Seoul]. To all my brothers - welcome home, and God bless all, because of the thankless job we did in the conditions we endured.

Message: I flew with MAJ Badersnider during the creation of the 218th (AC)/Fire Birds as a SP5 Flight Medic (91B2F)/ Firefighter (51M40) / Huey Crew Chief (67N20). Our Unit Commander demanded that all Officers and NCOs be able replace one another in an emergency, since the unit was designated to deploy to RVN in support of Air Mobile and MEDEVAC operations upon our completion of training. Served 1971-1972.

Winter of 1972 I was assigned as a SGT Flight Medic (91B4F) with 507th Med Co (MAST). Upon promotion to SSG I was made Platoon Sgt, 1st Flt. Plt. due to my 67N20 background by the then 507th Med Company Commander, LTC C. Webb. Served in unit 1972-1975.

I served under Hall Of Fame Member, LTC Webb until he recommended me for the US Army PA Program in 1975.
